Galatea by John Lyly

Only 400 years after it debuted, the fabulous Galatea is returning to the London stage! A ‘lost’ early modern play by John Lyly –the “moste witty” of Shakespeare’s contemporaries– Galatea is both a timeless story of bitter-sweet forbidden love, and a very modern celebration of women.
When the beautiful virgin Galatea is disguised as a boy and sent into the forest to save her from being sacrificed to Neptune, she finds herself surrounded by horny Nymphs, a saucy little Cupid, and devastatingly but confusingly attractive boy named Phillidia. What will happen when they emerge from the forest, and will love win the day?
Orange Moon Theatre presents this fantastically silly celebration of pure love in all its forms.
